Minutes of the October 24, 2016 meeting.
Meeting opened at 6:40 pm.
Present were: Rebecca Cook, Ennis Duling, Jean Davis, Nancy Luzer, Jean Roberts and Bruce Williams.
Meeting held in the not-quite-finished meeting room.
Minutes of the July meeting were read and accepted. Rebecca passed out the general report. All looked well. Special accounts looked fine also. There were no other reports to hand out as the patron counter has been unplugged due to construction, and as we are having to delay opening on many days until 4 pm while work is being done, the tallies for circ, etc. are lower than normal.
The renovations are nearly complete. We still are waiting to have the slate installed in the entry way and in the bathroom. There are a few other finishing details yet to be done. The children’s room shelving has not yet arrived, nor has the curtain for the programming room. However, since the entry way has flooring as does the bathroom, we feel we need not wait for those to be done to have our grand re-opening. We will need the children’s room shelving, for certain. At this point it looks as if the ceremony will be in November, probably on a Sunday afternoon.
The fundraising committee, in the person of Barbara Scott, applied for and received monies from the Castleton Lions Club, Walmart and Wells Fargo. The $300 from the Lions club will be used toward large print books as will any extra from the $2000 that Wells Fargo gave us after we finish supplementing the Mary Mazur amount for another children’s computer. Walmart’s money will be used for more laptops.
After the meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm, Rebecca gave us a tour of the library, including the basement. Very gratifying.
Next meeting will be the budget meeting on Dec. 6 at 6:30 pm.
