OCTOBER 21, 2014

Minutes of the October 21, 2014 meting.

Meeting opened at 6:30 pm.
Present were: Jean Davis, Ennis Duling, Nancy Luzer, Jean Roberts, Bruce Williams and librarian Rebecca Cook.

Minutes of the September 23, 2014 meeting were read and approved.
In old business, Rebecca let us know that a Poultney student, Meghan Wood, at the Stafford Technical School is designing and producing our logo for us.

Ennis passed out copies of an email he will send out to multiple places concerning the Lincoln letter. He is asking for advice on how to go about getting it appraised for selling, and if it would be something they would be interested in. We encouraged him to go ahead with the project.

On October 14 Bruce and Rebecca spoke to the Selectboard again. They were very pleased that we had listened to their concerns, addressed them, and thereby lowered the overall building estimate. The board voted unanimously to support us, including monetarily. They will give us a figure in January of the extent of their help in time for us to be able to use it in the wording on the ballet.

Rebecca passed out the General account. The employee insurance line is still skewed, but all else looks good. The Special account was fine. In patron counts, the average for the quarter was 574 people coming through the doors per week. Circulation reports were all up excepting computer use. Rebecca feels that the staff has been lax tallying the computer usage, and has addressed this problem with them. Good record keeping is vital when applying for grants.

The Town Wide Yard Sale netted $150. Many people stopped to hear information about the upcoming building project. Good PR day.

Barbara Scott of the Capital Campaign Committee is going to go to the annual VT Public Library Trustees and Friends Conference on November 1. Rebecca will see if Mary McNeil will go, also.
Rebecca listed some of the ideas the CCC has proposed.

October 30 the Librarian will speak to the Rotary Club about our project. In January she will speak to the Women’s Club. She also hopes to be able to speak to the Snowmobile Club as they gave us a donation this summer.

Jonas will look into the USDA grant with Rebecca. He is very confident they will look favorably on the proposal. They can grant up to 15% of the total building cost. Other grants will be looked into.

The next meeting will be November 17, 2014 at 6:30 pm. December 2 will be the budget meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Jean Roberts
