Overdue Notice Reimbursement Fee Changing July 1, 2015

The Poultney Public Library Trustee Policy States: No overdue fines are charged. Patrons are required to reimburse the Library, at a rate determined by the Trustees, for costs incurred in retrieving overdue materials. Borrowing privileges are suspended for patrons with overdue materials or outstanding charges.

The Poultney Public Library has charged 50¢ for each overdue notice mailed for many years now. Due to increased costs, the average overdue notice costs the library $3.26 to send. To help recoup a portion of these losses, the reimbursement fee for each overdue notice sent will be changed to $1.00 effective July 1, 2015.

After five overdue notices, we send a bill for long overdue library materials. Previously we have charged $1.00 for sending a bill. However, this is a time consuming and costly process so we will be changing the bill reimbursement fee to $10.00 effective July 1, 2015.
